Our Opportunities
Welcome to the UB Scholarship Portal! We’re here to help you find funding for your education.
For Current Students in the 2026-2027 Academic Year
- The General Application is open from July 15, 2026 through June 30, 2027. This single application connects you with numerous UB philanthropic opportunities, including scholarships and awards. After logging in and completing the General Application, you may be prompted to fill out a Conditional Application or answer supplemental questions for specific funding opportunities.
For Future Students starting in Summer 2027 or Fall 2027:
- You can complete the General Application starting in January 2027 through June 30, 2027 to be considered for recruitment scholarships.
- Important: Merit scholarships are managed by the Offices of Admissions and not through this portal. Please contact their office directly for inquiries about merit-based funding.
General Information for All Applicants:
- Annual Application: Use your UBIT name and password to complete the General Application after July 15th.
- Explore Opportunities: Feel free to explore available scholarships and awards on the portal homepage anytime. Specific eligibility details are in each description.
- Additional Funding Options: Visit Financial Aid – Scholarships.
- Graduate Assistantships: Graduate students seeking assistantships should contact their academic department directly.
Regarding Essays:
- We highly encourage you to authentically share your personal story in your own voice. Please ensure you write your essays independently, without the use of AI writing tools.
Important Notes:
- When you see the notification stating, “General Application required to unlock all eligible opportunities,” you can safely ignore it if you’ve already completed your General Application. This is just a standard automated message. Additional action is only required if an “Apply” button appears next to a specific opportunity. Completion of conditional applications or recommended opportunities is not mandatory; you may review these at your own discretion to determine your eligibility and interest.
- Applicants applying for financial need-based funding should file an annual FAFSA. Students ineligible to file a FAFSA may demonstrate financial need on the General Application by selecting “Yes” to the Financial Hardship question and providing a brief summary of their circumstances (if “No,” leave blank).
- Most scholarships and awards are available to international students; exceptions will be indicated in the descriptions.
- If you are selected for any funding in the UB Scholarship Portal, you will be notified via email with the amount you are eligible for and the next steps to finalize the funds.
- Funding eligibility depends on enrollment, good academic standing, and satisfactory progress toward your degree. Unless otherwise noted, to renew undergraduate funding, you must maintain full-time enrollment (at least 12 credits) during the fall and spring semesters, remain in your major (if applicable), and maintain a minimum cumulative UB GPA of 3.00 for the following academic year.
- For quicker refunds, consider setting up Direct Deposit.
- For purposes of our funding, the term “underrepresented” is intended to refer to individuals who have been historically underrepresented in a particular field of study, profession, or educational pathway based on factors such as socioeconomic background (e.g., Pell eligibility), first-generation college status, geographic origin, educational access, AmeriCorps alumni status, veteran status, or other unprotected characteristics. This term does not establish preference based on race, sex, ethnicity, or any other protected classification under applicable federal or state law.
