Career Design Center Internship Equity Fund

Internships serve as an invaluable bridge from college to career and provide students an opportunity to gain practical, hands-on training and experience within industry. This award, funded by the State University of New York (SUNY), will allow the Career Design Center to help fund University at Buffalo undergraduate and graduate students partaking in unpaid spring internships with non-profit or government organizations.

To be eligible, you must:
- Have your site supervisor complete the Site Supervisor Verification Form
- Have secured an unpaid spring internship with a 501©(3) non-profit OR government organization (federal, state, or local)
- Be currently enrolled and remain enrolled for the duration of the internship
- Be in good academic standing and remain in good academic standing (2.0 or higher)
- Have CPT authorization (international students on F-1 visa participating in off-campus internships only)
- Be supervised by an employee of the organization
- Be scheduled to work a minimum of 75 internship hours
- Be able to pick up an expense card in person from UB’s north campus

Preference will be given to individuals that have historically been denied access and/or been marginalized. These groups may include, but are not limited to:
- Students of diverse racial, ethnic, and immigrant backgrounds
- Students with disabilities
- First generation students
- LGBTQIA+ students
- Veteran students
- Nontraditional students
- Students with a demonstrated financial need
- Female students

Additional Application Requirements:
- Selected students to be notified via email within 10 days of application closing
- Award issued via U.S. Bank Expense Card in two parts- first half in early March and second half in mid-May
- Final internship evaluations emailed out in late April. Final evaluations must be completed by both the student and site supervisor in order to receive the second half of the award.
