Biological Sciences Department Resource Fund by Joseph T. Abate, DMD
Must be a current Senior (90+ credits) majoring in Biological Sciences in the College of Arts and Sciences.
The Research Fellowship was established by Dr. Joseph T. Abate, who received his Bachelors degree in Biology (1991) from UB Department of Biological Sciences. He then went on to receive his DMD degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 1995. Dr. Abate has practiced in all phases of general dentistry in multiple states across the US. He is currently the Director of Dental Affairs at National Association of Veteran Affairs Physicians and Dentists. He has given numerous presentations on oral health and its relation to general health. We are grateful to Dr. Abate’s commitment to ensure the excellence of the undergraduate education in our department.
The undergraduate research fellowship was endowed by Joseph T. Abate, DMD, with the intent of supporting the research experiences of undergraduate students in the Department of Biological Sciences. This fellowship aims to provide students currently in their senior year with financial support to facilitate undergraduate research, performed in the Department of Biological Sciences, during the academic year. The amount of fellowships depends on the application and available funds.
