Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship Award
The Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship Award of the Minority Faculty & Staff Association (MFSA) was established to honor a junior or senior who demonstrates high academic standards, leadership ability, and exemplary personal character that advances the spirit and philosophy of Dr. King. Each year one full-time University at Buffalo student is chosen for this award. This year’s award will be $500.00.
Scholarships will be awarded in the spring semester during the Martin Luther King Jr. Commemoration Event on February 28, 2024.
Preference given to a member of a historically underrepresented groups [African American or African descent; Latino/Hispanic American or Native American]
Full-time Junior or Senior UB student
Minimum 3.3 undergraduate GPA.
U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
Evidence of community/university service
Demonstration of sound character and leadership qualities.
All disciplines eligible to apply.
Two Letters of recommendation (1) Faculty/Staff and (1) Employer
A well written essay describing how Dr. King’s philosophy has influenced your educational goals.
