Professor Claude Welch and Professor Jeannette Ludwig

Claude Welch is a SUNY Distinguished Service Professor who was a member of the faculty in the Department of Political Science in the UB College of Arts and Sciences for 52 years. He retired in 2016. His academic specializations include African politics, the roles of armed forces in politics, and human rights. Jeannette Ludwig was an associate professor of Romance Languages and Literatures at UB, specializing in both the history and structure of the French language as well as the comparative study of religion. In addition to teaching, Ludwig was Associate Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education in the 1990s and she retired in 2016.
