Stanley Sekula, BA ’51 and Anne H. Sekula
Stanley Sekula, BA ’51 was an internationally known researcher in the field of high-temperature superconductors, leading a research group he established in the 1960s at Oak Ridge National Laboratory where he spent his entire career as a research physicist. After service in the Navy during World War II, Sekula, a Niagara Falls, N.Y. native, completed his bachelor’s degree in physics at UB and a PhD in physics at Cornell.
The Dr. Stanley T. Sekula Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 1991 by Anne H. Sekula in memory of her husband, Stanley. The fund is dedicated to fostering new generations of physicists who would have been intellectual colleagues of the its namesake, sharing his creativity and contributions to the scientific endeavor.
