Sandra L. and Steven H. Felderstein
Steven and Sandra Felderstein share a lifelong appreciation for the power of education to open doors and shape meaningful careers. Both are proud alumni of the University at Buffalo, where they first met as students and began a partnership that has spanned more than five decades. They credit their experiences at the university with laying the foundation for their professional lives and their commitment to public service.
Sandra Felderstein earned her Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics in 1968 and a Master of Arts in Statistics in 1969. She went on to a successful career in California State Government, where she applied her analytical and management expertise in support of public programs and policy.
Steven Felderstein received his Bachelor of Arts in History in 1968. In 1970, the couple moved to California so that he could attend UC Law San Francisco where he earned his Juris Doctor. He went on to build a distinguished career as a lawyer and adjunct law professor.
The Feldersteins spent most of their adult lives in the Sacramento area, where they built their careers and remained active in their community. Over the years, they have supported a variety of philanthropic causes including the arts (local museums, artists, and performing arts organizations), children’s literacy initiatives, and programs that strengthen and sustain the Jewish community.
They established this scholarship to support University at Buffalo students with financial need. Recognizing that public support for higher education is no longer at the level that helped make their own education possible, they hope their gift will ensure that future generations of students can benefit from the opportunities the University at Buffalo provides.
Grateful for the role the university played in their lives, Steven and Sandra are happy to give back in this meaningful way.
