Samuel F. Cino, BS '50

Samuel F. Cino graduated from the University at Buffalo School of Management in 1950 with a Bachelor of Science in Business. In memory of his brother, Mr. Cino, prior to his death, established the “Baldassare (Sonny) Cino Scholarship Fund” at the University at Buffalo which provides annual scholarships for the education of individuals afflicted with multiple sclerosis, or to a potential student whose parent is afflicted with MS. The late Sonny Cino, a resident of Orchard Park and owner of a pizzeria in West Seneca, died of complications associated with multiple sclerosis in 1994.

It was Mr. Cino’s belief that all diseases are terrible but multiple sclerosis is devastating if only because of the length of time that patients suffer as their bodies slowly deteriorate. Caregivers do an excellent job in providing physical care. However, it was his belief that a need for more educational resources and support groups should be established to help family members cope with the mental and emotional needs of their loved ones.
