Robert F. Hanley, Jr., BS '90

The Karwan/Thomas Industrial Engineering Undergraduate Scholarship Fund was established in 2001 by Robert F. Hanley, BS ’90, in order to recognize two professors, Warren H. Thomas and Mark H. Karwan, who were instrumental in helping him complete his degree in industrial engineering in the UB School of Engineering and Applied Sciences.

Warren Thomas, SUNY Distinguished Teaching Professor Emeritus, was associate dean of engineering for undergraduate affairs, and a chair of the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering.

Mark Karwan was also a chair of the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering, an associate dean of engineering for research and graduate education and dean of the school from 1994-2006. He was named the first Praxair Professor in Operations Research in 2007.

Robert F. Hanley is a senior consultant with the global software firm SAP with expertise in materials management and quality management.
