Robert H. Goldsmith, BS ’51, and Catherine Goldsmith

Robert Goldsmith rose from an entry-level engineering job following his UB graduation to become chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Rohr Industries, a Fortune 500 company producing large aircraft engine systems.

Before joining Rohr, he had held the post of corporate vice president with responsibility for the commercial aircraft engine and gas turbine divisions of General Electric where he’d worked for 26 years. Goldsmith has an extensive history of service and philanthropy on behalf of the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, funding a freshman mentoring program as well as this graduate scholarship.
