The Mothers’ Club of Buffalo
We are The Mothers’ Club of Buffalo, NY. Our organization has a rich history dating back to 1900 when a group of civic-minded, forward-thinking women set out to change the status quo and improve the physical, moral and spiritual living conditions for local children and their families in our community.
With the passing of time and changes in societal norms, our membership demographic has changed significantly and child-welfare has become the focus of many other organizations. As a result, our main focus has also evolved. Continuing another Mothers’ Club of Buffalo tradition that dates back as far as 1921, and recognizing that a college education plays a significant role in the future of our young people, their future families and the community as a whole, we now concentrate our efforts on raising scholarship money for the higher education of deserving young people. Specifically, we maintain two scholarship funds at the University at Buffalo, and a third scholarship fund with the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo. We also sponsor an Educational Gift Fund designed to provide financial assistance to qualifying students who are part of our members’ families in their pursuit of a higher education. We support all of this by holding periodic fundraising events, some large and some small, throughout the year.
In addition, we hold eight membership meetings annually where we present interesting and educational programs for our membership by bringing in speakers or holding events that are designed to enrich the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual welfare of our members.
