The Dr. Edward L. Curvish, Jr. Award was established in 2000 by Edward L. Curvish, Jr., EdM ’60, BA ’58 to support a graduating history student. Edward is a second-generation UB alumnus, as his father, Dr. Edward L. Curvish Sr., MD ‘29, graduated from UB’s medical school in 1929. Dr, Curvish Sr. was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha, a medical school honor society, whose symbolic gold key he always wore on his vest. The Curvish family also established the Edward L. Curvish M.D. Award for medical students. Both funds provide students with a monetary award, certificate and a gold key.

Before retiring, Curvish was a high school teacher and counselor for more than 35 years in public schools in the Elmira, N.Y. area and in the Catholic education system in the Buffalo area.
