SUNY Distinguished Professor Emeritus Bruce D. McCombe

A faculty member in the Department of Physics since 1982, McCombe, an internationally known researcher in semiconductor physics, has held numerous administrative positions at UB. These include chair of the department of physics, associate dean for research and sponsored programs in the College of Arts and Sciences, vice provost for graduate education and dean of the graduate school, and interim dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. He was named dean of the College of Arts and Sciences in March, 2007 and stepped down from the deanship in 2011 to return to his faculty position. He subsequently served briefly as interim provost of the university in 2012.

Professor McCombe established this fund in memory of three former PhD students, Christian Meining, Yong-Jie Wang and Teaman Yeo.
