Career Design Center Unpaid Internship Award

The Career Design Center recognizes that internships serve as an invaluable bridge from college to career. This opportunity, funded by the State University of New York (SUNY), will allow the Career Design Center to provide awards to underrepresented and/or marginalized students who may have only been able to secure an unpaid internship within non-profit or civic organizations. This is not a merit-based opportunity. International Students must have CPT work-authorization from ISS and be earning academic credit for their internship.

University at Buffalo students who meet the following criteria are eligible to apply for the award:
- Currently enrolled undergraduate and graduate students in good academic standing (2.0 or higher)
- Have secured an unpaid internship during the summer at either a non-profit or civic organization

Preference will be given to individuals that have historically been denied access and/or suffered past institutional discrimination and/or have been marginalized. These groups may include, but are not limited to:
- Racial, ethnic, and immigrant populations
- People with disabilities
- LGBTQIA+ individuals
- Veterans
- Nontraditional students
- Low-income and have demonstrated financial need (domestic students must have completed the most recent FAFSA and international students must answer the ‘financial challenges’ questions in the General Application)
